Our method

This page says what we do and what we do not do, so you can weigh a verdict for yourself.

What we do

• Read each Amazon listing: title, photos, materials, dimensions, hardware and, for pre-loved bags, the seller's condition notes.
• Read the brand's own specifications and product pages where they exist.
• Read expert and owner sources that are published, such as care guides, resale-market write-ups and long-term owner reports.
• Compare bags in the same category on leather or fabric, construction, hardware, size and price.
• Give each guide a score, a one-sentence verdict, who it suits and who should skip it.

What we do not do

• We do not claim hands-on testing. We have not handled the bags we rank.
• We do not authenticate items. For pre-loved bags, condition and authenticity are described and guaranteed by the seller on Amazon.
• We do not show Amazon star ratings or review counts. The score on a verdict is ours.
• We do not publish prices ourselves. Prices load live from Amazon and carry an "as of" time.
